Inside the Czech hookah market: our view after Ostrava v dýmu 2026
In early August the Czech hookah scene gathered in Ostrava, and we were the festival's general partner. Here is who we are, what we bring in and how we see the market changing.
Ostrava v dýmu and the Slavic Cup 2026
On 1–2 August, Ostrava hosted Ostrava v dýmu: Czech Hookah Fest, and on its second day the same venue held the Hookah Battle Slavic Cup 2026. For the Czech scene it meant more than a single weekend. A country long seen as a transit point between Germany and Eastern Europe now has its own teams, festivals and distributors.
Hookah Market was the festival's general partner — a good moment to introduce ourselves to those who don't know us yet and to share how we see the Czech market.
Who we are
Hookah Market is a specialised online shop and wholesale supplier of hookah products. We have been on the Czech market since 2025, and today our team has more than ten people. We work in two directions: retail for customers across the Czech Republic, and supply for lounges, bars and shops. Our regular customers include more than 20 major lounges.
Brands we bring in directly
What separates a distributor from an ordinary shop is direct contracts with manufacturers. We are the official distributor of BlackBurn and Starline, and we represent MustH in the Czech Republic exclusively. Darkside is in the range as well, and DEUS will join the portfolio soon. All our tobacco comes straight from the producers, with no intermediaries, and is certified for the EU market.
Our own JoCo charcoal
We also run our own charcoal brand, JoCo. It is made in Indonesia from coconut shells, with no self-igniting layer and no foreign odours. It comes in two sizes:
- 25 mm — about 72 cubes per kilo,
- 26 mm — about 64 cubes per kilo.
The cubes are fully lit in 8–12 minutes, give even heat, leave little ash and hold their shape to the end of the session. There are two formats: a one-kilo pack for home use and a 12-kilo box for venues. Always light charcoal in a well-ventilated room — burning charcoal produces carbon monoxide. How the Czech market differs from its neighbours
First, the shape of demand. Czech guests are used to light, fruity mixes, but lounges in Prague and Ostrava increasingly build their menus around dark-leaf tobaccos. That changes what venues ask of a supplier: not just delivering a box, but keeping steady stock of the flavours a menu is already built on.
Second, logistics. The country is compact: an order reaches any Czech address in one to three working days. We also ship hookahs, accessories and JoCo charcoal to other European countries.
Working with venues
We run a separate programme for business customers: wholesale prices, free delivery in Prague, a personal manager and an operator available around the clock. Registration takes a few minutes and needs only a company name and Czech company ID (IČO) — you can sign up on our B2B page.
A lounge doesn't need one more price list. It needs a supplier who still has that one flavour on a Friday night, when it has just run out.
What comes next
Ostrava v dýmu and the Slavic Cup showed that the Czech Republic has both the audience and the hookah masters. The next step is infrastructure: reliable supply, staff training and local events.
